Get the stock in shape! It\u2019s all there.<\/span><\/h1>\n

\u2026 <\/span><\/em>was the theme of the 23rd Bauz! Congress.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

On the first two days of the congress, research projects, architecture and development projects from the construction industry were presented. In workshops, individual topics were explored in greater depth by cooperation partners of the BauZ! Congress. Seven sessions and one in-depth session addressed the topics, each moderated by members of the BauZ! Advisory Board.<\/span><\/p>\n

Session 1: Framework conditions for a circular city<\/span><\/h3>\n

Chair: <\/span><\/strong>Susanne Formanek (President of IBO Vienna)<\/span><\/p>\n

Iva Kovacic, Vienna University of Technology: <\/span><\/strong>M_hub: <\/span><\/em>a web-based platform serving as a \u2018data hub for the collection and analysis of material compositions in the City of Vienna\u2019s building stock\u2019, designed to systematically record, analyse and predict the material composition of buildings.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was followed by two keynote presentations:<\/span><\/p>\n

Claus Asam (BBSR, Berlin) <\/span><\/strong>spoke about the new \u2018cumulative raw material use indicator (RMI)\u2019, which is sensitive to the use of primary raw materials. In addition, an assessment method for recyclable building structures was developed in collaboration with the IBO.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bernadette Luger (City of Vienna, Municipal Directorate for Construction and Technology) <\/span><\/strong>presented Vienna\u2019s circular economy strategy, comprising three elements: <\/span>strategy <\/span><\/em>(orientation), <\/span>circularity factor <\/span><\/em>(practical work) and <\/span>Urban Living Lab <\/span><\/em>(collaborative learning).<\/span><\/p>\n

The event concluded with welcoming remarks from <\/span>Hannes Warmuth <\/span><\/strong>(BMIMI) and <\/span>Karin Stieldorf <\/span><\/strong>(Vienna University of Technology, Institute of Architecture and Design).<\/span><\/p>\n

Session 2: Continuing to build within the (industrial) built environment<\/span><\/h3>\n

Projects such as <\/span>Promprylad.Renovation <\/span><\/em>demonstrate how brownfield sites can become focal points for local development.<\/span><\/p>\n
