Field trip to significant new urban developments in the Vienna region

Destination 1: Seestadt aspern
Seestadt aspern is a new city in the making, and the largest building site of Austria on the area of the former airport Aspern.
jaspern is a self-governed residential development. “City visit” and visit of selected objects
9:30 a.m. Lobby of Aspern IQ. Information on the citiy planning concept and on the Plus-energy building Aspern IQ

10:15 a.m. Walk through the area

10:45 a.m. House of the Baugruppe JAspern, afterwards

11:30 a.m. Lunch in Seestadt-Kantine

1:00 p.m. Trip with U2, U1 or Linie D to Hauptbahnhof
Destination 2: Wiener Hauptbahnhof, Sonnwendviertel, Quartier Belvedere
The conversion of Wien Südbahnhofs, a railway terminus, to Wien Hauptbahnhof, a through station, made a huge area available, where two new quarters surface: Quartier Belvedere in the north, and Sonnwendviertel in the south of the railway line. A walk to get an idea of the urban situation. Visit of selected objects.
1:30 p.m. Visit of the building site ERSTE Campus

  • Explanation of basic considerations of the investor regarding location and objectives, information on masses, costs, schedule, deadlines
  • Walk through a typical office space, information on concepts, and technical considerations on function, space and operation.

Walk through Sonnwendviertel to the  ÖBB building

3.00 p.m. Visit of ÖBB-Tower and the new Vienna main train station: Hauptbahnhof

    • Meeting in one of the uppermost floors with view over the whole area. Information on the concepts of the real estate development, focussing on city planning, processes, remarks on innovative conceptual and technical features of the station building (ventilation) and on the office tower. Representatives of Zechner & Zechner architects and of ÖBB Immobilienmanagement GmbH will be present.

Walk through the new main station Hauptbahnhof Wien to the underground station

4:30 p.m. trip with U1 and U2 back to the Messezentrum
